At the Balharshah railway crossing in Chandrapur, Maharashtra, on Sunday night, slabs came loose and began to fall over a bridge, raising fears that several people would sustain injuries.
A portion of the pre-cast slab of the foot over the bridge at Balharshah, Nagpur division, collapsed at roughly 5.10 p.m. today, according to Central Railway PRO Shivaji Sutar.
However, according to a recent report by Loksatta, the incident has left at least 20 persons injured, 8 of whom are in severe condition.
Ex gratia compensation of Rs. 1 lakh and Rs. 50,000 has been announced by the Railway for individuals who have suffered severe injuries. The CPRO CR Shivaji Sutar remarked, “Injured patients are being offered best medical treatment by moving them to different hospitals for early recovery.”
