The Minister of Justice promised greater support for the area during a visit to Limerick in response to the violence in Rathkeale. Video of the aftermath showed numerous damaged cars and what appeared to be multiple knives left on the road close by.

The Minister of Justice strolled into Rathkeale on Tuesday evening in support of the locals who desired a more robust police presence to defuse the brewing violence. Harris stated that Rathkeale would have more garda resources to deal with fighting groups.

He declared that the state would pursue those responsible for this violence: “No region of the country is free from the law.”
Chief Superintendent Derek Smart, the leader of the Limerick Garda Division, was in constant contact with Harris. He stated that more resources had already been given to the local gardai to assist them in keeping the town’s rising tensions under control.
