Manchester City beat Leeds United 3-1 on Wednesday night to move up to second place in the Premier League standings. In the victory, Erling Haaland scored twice. As they recovered from a shocking loss to Brentford prior to the World Cup, Pep Guardiola’s team closed the gap to Arsenal at the top of the table to five points. As his father Alfe Inge played for Leeds, Haaland spent his formative years there. He was unforgiving as City resurrected their title challenge, though. Haaland has scored 20 Premier League goals in just 14 games since joining City, but he was still dissatisfied after losing three one-on-one matches versus Illan Meslier.

One incident, though, caught everyone’s attention: when City manager Guardiola became irate, he kicked a bottle in the direction of the Leeds dugout. The incident occurred in the 83rd minute of play when a Leeds player was struck by the bottle. Guardiola quickly realized what had transpired after kicking and apologized to the player.

Regarding the game, Haaland has scored 20 Premier League goals in just 14 games since joining City, but he was still dissatisfied after losing three one-on-one matches versus Illan Meslier. According to Haaland, “I could’ve scored five, that’s the reality.”
