NHK reported that a guy in Germany called at 6:20 a.m. Japan time to say that he had hidden a bomb on the aircraft, citing police sources.

According to a representative for the airport, the domestic aircraft from Narita to the southwest Japanese city of Fukuoka was rerouted to Chubu airport.

NHK said that at that time, all 136 passengers and six crew members disembarked from the aircraft. At least five of the passengers, according to NHK, who saw people utilizing emergency chutes to leave the aircraft, sustained minor injuries.

The caller allegedly said they had planted 100 kilograms (220 pounds) of plastic explosives, according to NHK. The caller said there were explosives in the cargo hold of the aircraft and threatened to detonate them if “management” didn’t speak with him.

The plane was compelled to land right away after receiving the call, and its passengers were removed.

NHK reports that no bombs were found inside the aircraft. According to a representative for the Chubu airport, flights at the facility have resumed after a four-hour interruption, and the incident is being investigated.

According to a Jetstar Japan spokeswoman, the plane landed normally at 7.41 am local time “following a potential security situation.”
