On Friday, December 9, the main event of a Polsat Boxing Promotions event in Gliwice features super middleweights Osleys Iglesias (7-0) and Andriy Velikovsky (21-2-2) fighting for the vacant IBO title (Poland).

Iglesias, a native of Cuba, was a superb amateur but was never able to match Olympic Gold Medalist Arlen Lopez. He has advanced quickly in his professional career and is the clear favorite to defeat Velikovsky, a man who was born in Ukraine but has spent the past few years living in Germany and should not be taken lightly.

Although it has been known for a few weeks, Enock Poulsen’s EBU super lightweight title defense against Franck Petitjean, scheduled for December 17 in Creteil (France), has been postponed.

Although a new date has not yet been revealed, the bout is still scheduled for February 4 in Creteil.

The vacant EU title is on the line when heavyweights Granit Shala (13-0) and Jack Mulowayi (13-3-1) square off in Berlin on February 25.

Muloway’s most notable accomplishment remains the shocking victory over Apti Davtaev in 2021, but Bakhodir Jalolov stopped him earlier this year. Since then, he’s won two straight.

Shala is somewhat inexperienced but displays good hand speed and timing; nonetheless, with only three early finishes in 13 fights, it is clear that he lacks punching ability.

Hampus Henriksson, a well-regarded prospect from Sweden who went pro in 2015, competed on the major Sauerland events there and hired Jimmy Montoya as his manager.

Hampus was left stranded when Sauerland departed Scandinavia, but no battles broke out. He made a comeback in 2020, competing twice on Universum shows in Germany after taking three years off.

Hampus, who is 5-0-1 in the professionals, is back in the amateurs this weekend and will compete in the Swedish championships.
