Fleetwood Mac’s Christine McVie, a vocalist, keyboardist, and composer, died at the age of 79.
“On behalf of the family of Kristen McVeigh, we regret to tell you of Kristen’s demise. Wednesday, November 30, 2022. She passed away peacefully this morning in the hospital after a brief illness. She passed away at the hospital in peace at Your family is by your side. We humbly ask that you respect the family’s privacy during this very trying time. Additionally, we want everyone to remember Kristen as a wonderful person and a beloved musician. May you, Christine McVeigh, find peace.
Following Christine McVie’s tragic death, Fleetwood Mac released a statement in which they said, “There are no words to fully describe our sadness at her passing.” She truly was exceptional, unique, and talented.
She was your best buddy and the best musician in your band, it was added. She truly is a gift in our life. We are thankful for the excellent memories we have of Kristen as individuals and a collective. Her absence will be deeply felt.
Shortly after getting married to bassist John McVie in 1969, Christine McVie became a member of Fleetwood Mac in 1970. On 12 of the band’s 17 studio albums, she made an appearance. She also cooperated with Lindsey Buckingham on the 2017 album Lindsey Buckingham Christine McVie and has recorded three solo albums. She was a member of Fleetwood Mac when they were elected into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1998.
Fleetwood Mac will be introduced to Rock Hall by Sheryl Crow. “In my perspective, Christine McVie and Stevie Nicks are the first females of rock and roll,” she adds of McVie and Nicks. The fact that the band’s pianist is Christine McVie is awesome.
She told me it wasn’t about being’very good for a girl,’ Crow continued. It was all about excellence. She showed me how to write powerful rock songs on the piano. I was shocked the first time I heard By the time she sung “Spare Me A Little [Of Your Love]” from Bare Trees in 1972, and I still feel the same way when I hear the song today.
It is well known that McVeigh left Fleetwood Mac in 1998 due to his growing phobia of flying. 2014 saw her re-join the group, and she continued to play until her passing.
