Bobby Halton’s Obituary News: Chief Editor of Fire Engineering Bobby Halton has Died – Cause of death

We regret to inform you of the tragic passing of Chief (Ret.) Bobby Halton, the editor-in-chief of Fire Engineering and the director of education at FDIC International. At his home in Oklahoma, Chief Halton unexpectedly passed away on Monday night, December 19, 2022.

Halton has been our editor for the past 18 years. Halton was in charge of the editing team and helped make the FDIC the largest training event for firefighters in the world.

The chief, Bobby Halton, was a native of New York. He began his career fighting structural fires with the Albuquerque (NM) Fire Department and eventually rose to the position of chief of training.

Up until his departure from Albuquerque in 2004, Halton led the organization’s operations. After that, he was appointed the Coppell, Texas, department’s chief. Halton relocated from Coppell to take over as Fire Engineering’s editor in chief.

A graduate of the University of New Mexico, Chief Halton served on several technical committees for the National Fire Protection Association and retired as an active participant in both the International Association of Fire Chiefs and the International Association of Fire Fighters.

He was a member of the Firefighter Cancer Support Network as well as the National Fallen Firefighters Life Safety Initiatives. He was a speaker, an author, and an ardent supporter of the fire department, in addition to being a lot of people’s buddy.
